Captec Launches Rail-certified Computing Range with 15 Year Roadmap
Captec has launched a new range of EN 50121-4:2006 rail-certified computers
With trackside approval to three metres, the highest level of certification attainable, the 1U and 2U computers are ideal for a scope of rail applications – including overground and underground installations.
The computers are supported by a 15-year product roadmap and are compatible with Intel processors including i7 for optimised power and performance. Intel Active Management Technology allows IT managers to discover, repair, and help protect networked computing assets, quickly and remotely.

We have over 20 years’ experience in supplying railway computers, and have been involved in projects including customer information services, ticketing interfaces and communication servers for telephony and CCTV.
Most recently, our rail-certified computers have been used to support the Bakerloo Line upgrade.”
The new rail computers have been manufactured with industrial grade components and feature an extended temperature range for dependable operation in demanding rail environments.
The models can also be customised with chassis alterations, I/O modifications Our production engineers can also preconfigure the computers with customer-chosen operating systems to streamline system rollouts.
Features also include redundant power supplies, RAID support and hot swappable drive bays, delivering high availability in mission critical rail applications.
