Mechanical Design Lead

We are hiring for a Mechanical Design Lead to join our growing technology company based in Fareham. If you have a passion designing using 3D CADideally Solidworks) and experience as a team lead – we would love to hear from you!

As the Mechanical Design Lead, you will work within our engineering team ensuring products meet customer and market requirements across a wide range of technologies and industries, and also be involved in the design of mechanical and electromechanical products for use in medical, oil & gas to military and industrial applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Lead, or an ambitious Design Engineer, looking to develop their career and skillset and wanting to expand on their team leadership and management capabilities. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will make a real contribution to the design team to identify, design and develop products that meet specifications, look professionally engineered and that you can be justifiably proud of.

You will be responsible for organising the mechanical design team and taking the lead role in complex projects. This will include deciding on best processes, materials and structural integrity from the concept stage onwards and being able to take a high-level view of the overall design and how the various different components including mechanical and electrical/electronic interact to provide an end solution. The nature of projects will vary greatly and involve electromechanical design, system integration and innovation based around computing solutions.

You will be a qualified and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in designing and developing small to medium sized products within the computer, telecoms or marine industries, or similar. Experience working within an SME is essential as is your natural ability in using computer aided design packages.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • At least 10 years’ experience in mechanical designs made from predominately sheet metal fabrication within an electrical/ electronic or electromechanical environment.
  • Knowledge or experience with injection moulding designs would be beneficial.
  • Experience as a team leader/supervisor within a design environment.
  • Experience designing using 3D CAD software.
  • Experience of new product design, materials selection, modern manufacturing processes for small to medium size run rates.
  • Experience of producing meaningful and accurate manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
  • Understanding of revision and change control.

Sales Support Executive

We are looking for a Sales Support Executive to join our busy sales team!  This role will suit a confident individual who is looking to start and develop a career in sales.  This opportunity will provide the successful candidate a clear career path from sales support through to B2B sales in a high technology industry.

To provide a great foundation, in year one the Sales Support Executive will be trained in all areas of the Captec sales process with a strong emphasis on customer related support activities. This will include order processing, quotations, appointment setting and general support of our internal and external business development teams.

In year two, we are looking for the successful candidate to migrate into a direct sales role joining the internal sales team, holding their own revenue target and contributing directly against the company business plan. This will include achievement of targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), forecasting capability, understanding of customer requirements, strategic objectives and target customers.

Subject to success and performance in year one and two, the opportunity for progression to a field-based sales role will become available.

As well as being supported by all areas of the business, you can expect to receive a thorough training plan to help you learn about our company, products and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and arrange appointments for Business Development Managers on key corporate accounts and suspects.
  • Input of accurate sales records into our CRM database and customer folders.
  • Build long-lasting relationships with customers and prospects.
  • Develop appropriate knowledge of customers business and Captec solutions.
  • Preparation and support of professional sales quotation/proposals.
  • Undertake research to identify new business opportunities in line with business strategy.
  • Delivery of personal revenue target and support of Captec business plan.
  • Maintain desired level of company margin.
  • Proactive hunting to identify and close new business opportunities.
  • Accurate forecasting and reporting of NBO/pipeline opportunities.
  • Develop skillsets and performance levels to enable career path to external BDM position.
Required Experience & Skillset:
  • A highly ambitious, proactive and committed individual.
  • An interest in developing a career in consultative/solution orientated selling experience in an industrial B2B market sector within computing, electronics, IT and technology.
  • A good communicator with a proven ability to effectively communicate and engage internal/external stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Motivation to achieve a revenue target.
  • Good attention to detail, able to multitask and time manage priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working to ISO:9001 standard.
  • Previous experience in a B2B sales environment in a technology-related field.
  • Experience working to achieve KPIs and targets
  • Experience in a similar role and engineering-centric marketplace similar to Captec’s.

Senior Compliance Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer to join our growing technology company based within the Fareham area. If your focus is ensuring products meet international regulatory standards and EU directives,  we would love to hear from you!

As our Senior Compliance Engineer, you will have at least five years’ experience working with design teams on products within the computer, defence or marine industries or similar, and ideally as a senior function holder. You will work with our engineering teams to ensure products meet customer and market requirements across a range of technologies and industries. You will also be involved in the design and qualification of mechanical and electromechanical products for use in industries ranging from medical and oil and gas through to military and transport.

You will be instrumental in making a real contribution to the business by advising the design teams and customers on product compliance requirements and how best to achieve them. Your expertise will be relied upon to help us navigate our way through international regulations correctly. You will also ensure products comply with customer and legal requirements while meeting specification. Help will be on hand in the form of a Junior Compliance Engineer, who you will be responsible for mentoring and leading, although ultimate responsibility for the compliance, verification and validation of products will be yours.

This role will require you to control and maintain compliance of the company’s products to applicable national and international regulatory standards including EU directives, FCC, UL and defence standards. You will be responsible for creating technical files and declarations to confirm compliance with required standards. In this role, you will also conduct and document product safety assessments as well as product verification testing including electromagnetic interference, shock and vibration, ingress protection  and noise assessment, amongst others.  The nature of projects will vary greatly and involve electromechanical design, system integration and innovation based around computing solutions.

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Five+ years’ experience as a Compliance Engineer working on electromechanical designs and computer-based products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EU directives (CE) as well as UL and FCC including EN 62368.
  • Practical application of EU low voltage (2014/35/EU) and EMC directives (EN 55032 / EN 55024) as well as RoHS, REACH, COSHH and WEEE directives.
  • Recent experience in the setup and use of test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers for the purpose of production verification.
  • Experience working on products designed for the defence, marine or medical sectors is a distinct advantage as is a working knowledge of DEF STANs 59-411, 00-35, 08-107, MAP 01-470 and EN 60601.
  • Ideally an engineering bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline.
