Business Development Manager – Fareham, UK

Due to our ongoing growth, we are seeking a driven and ambitious Business Development Manager (BDM) to identify and develop targeted opportunities, driving business growth for Captec’s capabilities and products.

As a proven and successful BDM, you will have experience selling to C level stakeholders providing technology solutions, ideally into one or more of the operational technology environments into the sectors we serve – Defence, Healthcare, Automation, Transportation, Energy or Communications.

This is a commercial role and, whilst it doesn’t require in depth technical knowledge, it’s essential to have the ability to identify new opportunities through a consultative and solution orientated approach.  You will need to immerse yourself in all aspects of our capabilities and services to effectively relay the benefits and features of our offerings. Category Buyers – Cambridge, Canada

We have an opening for an experienced Category Buyer, to support the Procurement strategy within our multi-regional Supply Chain team.

As a Category Buyer working in our Canada office and reporting to the Group Supply Chain Manager, you will support our manufacturing operations by managing the procurement of both direct and indirect categories, including critical consumables and manufacturing materials.  In addition, you will support the procurement strategy, undertake supplier negotiations through effective relationship building.

We envision the successful candidate to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain roles within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, demonstrable experience in negotiation and supplier management, be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite and procurement systems and have some exposure to ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing procurement strategies for specific product categories, support preparation and implementation of pans and monitor and report on progress.

Paint Shop Cell Leader – Farnborough, UK

We are hiring for a Paint shop Cell Leader, to join our team at Captec Subsystems Engineering (CSE) in Farnborough.

As the Paint Shop Cell Leader, you will work in partnership with the primary cell leaders to ensure workflow through the department and will develop plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operational deliverables through your team, as well as team development through appraisals, performance management and assessment of training requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will be likely to have 5+ years’ experience of paint shop and have extensive knowledge of wet and powder painting and best practices, be a team player and a setter of high standards. You will also have a similar level of experience in an effective supervisory role.

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Ensuring the lean principles are embedded in the department and providing continuous improvement solutions.
  • Ensuring production efficiencies are communicated throughout the team and that they are met in line with staffing levels available.
  • Ensuring staffing levels are reviewed periodically and action is taken to meet the forward production plan.

Production Team Leader – Fareham, UK

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader, in the Production Department, at our facility based in Fareham.

What Does the Role Involve?

As a Production Team Leader, using your excellent people skills, you will be required to lead, motivate and supervise an effective team in the achievement of on-time and right first-time deliveries whilst preventing overruns and rework.  You will accomplish this by fostering a collaborative working environment, by ensuring technicians are sufficiently trained, meeting timekeeping requirements, are correctly logged into jobs and by monitoring build times against expected on our ERP.

You will be the first port of call for any Production issues and will be expected to proactively liaise with other departments in support of the resolution, escalating any issues to the Production Planner/ Operations Manager where required.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • Previous experience of working in a supervisory role, with a responsibility for a team, in a manufacturing organisation.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality, Health, Safety Environmental (QHSE) and Compliance team in Fareham.

  • Business Management System including documenting process maps and associated documents to the Quality department, monitor the effectiveness of the organisation’s BMS, via non-conformance management and internal auditing and liaising with certification bodies when they carry out 3rd party audits of the organisations BMS to ISO9001 and ISO14001.

 

Required Experience & Skillset:
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing organisation.
  • Must be able to attain BPSS Clearance
  • Inspection of electrical, electronic and mechanical parts, assemblies and products against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality related issues, including complaints, rejects, FATs, FAIRs and change control.
  • Root cause analysis and effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Skilled use of all standard quality tools, e.g. 8D, 5 whys, fishbone, etc.
  • Process improvement, including value stream mapping.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Fareham, UK

For this permanent position, you will ideally be a qualified and experienced Electrical Design Engineer or Electrical Engineer with experience in designing and developing small to medium sized products. As our Electrical Design Engineer, you will work with and alongside our friendly and supportive engineering team using your expert skills to design industrial, mobile, and rugged computers and 19” racks and associated fittings. Reporting to the Engineering Project Lead, you will also be responsible for developing electrical design solutions for specific project requirements, as well as preparing and presenting designs reviews, prototype build and supporting design verification testing.

In addition, you will collaborate and support NPI engineers with knowledge transfer relating to electrical designs for the purposes of design transfer to production.

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be expected to actively engage with suppliers to ensure transfer of knowledge and best practice in the implementation and use of their products or components.

You will have technical responsibility in the design and development of products that you can be justifiably proud of.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Essential Capabilities
  • Use of best practices for the design of electrical hardware solutions from concept through to pre-production, testing and production, including:
    • Ability to translate customers’ requirements from a statement of work into designs that satisfy the requirements specification.
    • Experience of design for manufacture and testing.
    • Ability to simulate, prototype, conduct experiments, analyse, and interpret test data.
    • Ability to generate and review relevant design documentation.
    • Component selection and bill of material creation.
  • Experience with electrical drawing software, preferable Solidworks Electrical or similar.
  • Experience of working on military or aerospace projects, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience of working to and auditing against electrical and safety standards.
  • Ability to present specific aspects of engineering assignments at project meetings and reviews.

  • BS EN Standards such as 62368 and 61010 (Safety) and Military specs (Def-Stan).

To be successful, it is essential that you able to weld thin Gauge aluminium and all types of AC/DC-Welding – DTAW and GMAW (mainly AC) and have the experience to critically inspect your own work and pass to the next stage, as correct, for drawing.  You will also have experience of producing welding to customer specifications and drawing requirements and have the ability to read CAD drawings in order to produce parts to the highest specification.
